Black Jack-vengeance leading into decay?

Black_Jack-761306215-large

I must say that, like so many others, my love for European over the top spaghetti western started with that famous Sergio Leone movies, also Sergio Corbucci flicks who brought love in me for rowdy gunslingers, mysterious heroes, tormented villains and people neither good nor bad, trying just to get rich or get by.

Black Jack starts with a gang led by Jack Murphy, who are planning the perfect bank heist. After they do it, the gang members turn against Jack, rape and kill his sister and leave him thinking he is dead too. As it goes in such movies, Jack survived and goes after his former mates killing them one by one in various ways. Jack Murphy becomes crippled killer with a walking stick called Black Jack.

This is a movie with a message. That a revenge is a two way road. It affects the one who have done you wrong, but it also affects you as a person, leaving you insane and on the road with no return. Jack is portrayed by American actor Robert Woods, he is a character with whom you can be sympathetic with but as the movie evolves he turns into something else, monster, laughing maniac and true villain of this movie. Although I wouldn´t call him villain. The true villain of this movie is merciless revenge until the bitter end.

Watch this one. It is a good one.

Wood Lake released chilling new dark neofolk single!

a0022165447_10

The single, A Brief Respite, features a much more chilling and hollow aesthetic than its predecessor. Disembodied acoustic guitars and dreary synths steadily lead the song towards an explosive conclusion while its lyrics touch upon the insignificance one feels when confronting the vastness of nature. Wood Lake is scheduled to release Mer Bleue, their third full-length LP, on September 25, 2020.

Finnish metalheads Wishing Well have released a new video!

imgproxy-prod.services.web.outlook.com

Finnish metalheads Wishing Well have released a new video off their “DO OR DIE” album (Inverse Records), released in March. “Lost In The Night” is the third video from the new album and it was filmed in band’s hometown of Helsinki in May.

The video features empty streets of downtown Helsinki by night, deserted by coronavirus. The protagonist in the video is 1964 Volkswagen Kleinbus, driven by rock manager Mike “Major” Mondeo.
“This song is maybe the most melodic thing we’ve done so far and people seem to like so we decided to shoot a video for that”, says Rafael Castillo, the raspy-voiced Chilian vocalist of the band. “The whole town was empty in the springtime and all clubs and restaurants were closed so it came out almost as a documentary of these weird times. Just like everybody else we had to cancel lots of shows this year but it’s good to have a new album out and this video is one way to promote it.”
The band will play a delayed album release show at On The Rocks Club in Helsinki on 16 September with Mount Mary as support.
Wishing Well are:
Rafael Castillo – vocals
Arto Teppo – Hammond organ
Rick Becker – bass
Juha Kivikanto – drums
Anssi Korkiakoski – guitar

Abstract Symphony released new video for The Hidden Empire-featuring Mark Boals

The Neo-Classical Firestorm from Valparaíso, Chile, ABSTRACT SYMPHONY, launch the first video, “The Hidden Empire,” from their upcoming album “Tartaria: The Empire Hidden From History.” The song features the vocal prowess of none other than Mark Boals who’s iconic performance on Yngwie Malmsteen’s “Trilogy” album has set a mark for Neo-Classical albums ever since. Boals delivers another classic performance on “The Hidden Empire” which fits perfectly with the high-velocity progressions of the band.

Founder Esteban Ulloa has set a standard with his writing and feels strongly about introducing the new single to the global masses:

The new  Single  is a  great way for more people to get to know the band since Mark is on vocals. Having total freedom to write music for the band and not having any boundaries and having all the  support from RFL records makes it all better. With “The Hidden Empire” I made this song thinking about Mark Boals and how he would sing it, but never in my wildest dreams thought he would to end up singing it. Since this song is a couple of years old already I have always felt music deeply even before I played guitar, a dream come true for me and all of us in the band indeed . All of my influences came together in the best way in this song I´m sure that fans of Yngwie, Ring of Fire, Royal Hunt and Shining Black are gonna love it .”
