(review) Crystal Coffin-The Transformation Room

folder

Crystal Coffin are hailing from Vancouver, Canada. This is their debut full length record and it contains 8 songs. The music of this band is pretty interesting because it borders somewhere between melodic black metal, sludge and darkened hardcore, with some doomy elements thrown in for good measure. If I must compare this music it would be like Bathory meets EyeHateGod plus Woods of Ypres thus creating a really fine record indeed. The music is not so fast, rather slower atmospheric songs, with screaming vocals, raw but melodic guitar riffs and keyboard harmonies which add to the heavy atmosphere of the songs. For me, the finest songs on this record are As Certain As The Grave and I Emerge. Nice one, indeed!

8,5/10
